What do you do in daily life (work/study?): I just finished my final year in high school and now I coach and train young athletes when I am not playing myself
What is your specialty as a footballer? I would say my specialty is my speed/skill and ability to score goals under pressure. I read the game very well and am quick to adapt
What is your personal goal as a footballer? Like most, I want to be the best footballer in the world, but more than that, I want to improve my game each and every time I step on the field. I want to push myself towards a limitless future in football, as well as inspire others around me
What do you want to achieve this season? This season, I have very high hopes for the team. I want to be a top contender in the Eredivisie and hopefully fight for a spot in the champions league. Personally, I want to be a top goal scorer in the competition!
Rituals before the game? I have many rituals... Music is a must before every game, it helps to not only relax me, but also inspire me. I also have to chew gum during every game, and put on my equipment from left to right (left cleat first, then the right one, then the left shin guard and then the right one). Pink pre-wrap is the only kind I will use for my hair. Lastly, I keep a lucky necklace, that my parents gave to me, in my bag at all times
Favorite club? My whole family and I are Liverpool fans. YNWA!
Favorite player? Although he doesn’t play for my favorite team, he is still the best player in my eyes, Christiano Ronaldo
Hobbies outside of football? Ever since I was little there have been two sports that have been prominent in my house: football, and rugby. My whole family plays rugby and I love the game. I play it any chance I get outside of football. Pretty much any sport is a hobby for me and anything involving a competition for me to win, I am in for! I love the outdoors and traveling, and especially making memories with the people that mean the most to me
Are you also involved with players from the selection outside of football? The team environment this year is great! I am new, not only to the team, but also to the country, this year, and I can honestly say I’ve made amazing friends already. On our off days and after trainings lots of us spend time together at the beach, or in the city, etc.
What tips do you have for young talents? “Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard” - Tim Notke. This is a saying I live and stand by. Never limit yourself by not trying, don’t let your fears hold you back. Put in the work and be true to yourself and you will inspire those around you too. The things you do when no one is watching are the things that will get you where you want in life... you can do anything if you set your mind to it, just believe in yourself!
Finally, Do you want to share something with the followers of VV Alkmaar? I hope that we as a team can make you proud this year!
